Cork recycling centre damaged in blaze

Fire broke out shortly after 7.30pm last night at the Greenstar plant at Sarsfield Court

Several units of the Cork City Fire Brigade remain at the scene of a blaze at a waste recycling plant in Glanmire on the outskirts of the city.

The fire broke out shortly after 7.30pm last night at the Greenstar plant at Sarsfield Court in Cork.

Twelve units of the fire brigade fought the blaze for over an hour to bring it under control. There was extensive damage in the incident.

The scene will be preserved for a technical examination in order to determine the cause of the fire. No one was injured in the blaze.
