Body found off Clare coast by Irish Coast Guard

Members of the Irish Coast Guard searching for a man missing off Co Clare have recovered a body close to Kilkee where a member of the service lost their life last week.

The Doolin unit from the Irish Coast Guard, who lost their colleague Caitriona Lucas during a search on September 12th, recovered the body off Kilkee just before 5.30pm this evening.

The body was spotted in the sea earlier this afternoon and members off the Doolin unit in an inflatable boat made the recovery close to the shore.

The body was brought back to Kilkee where it was handed over to gardaí and members of the HSE. The body has yet to be formally identified.
