Former US president to receive honorary doctorate from DCU

Former US President Bill Clinton is due to visit Ireland next month to receive an honorary doctorate.

Dublin City University will confer an honorary doctorate to Mr Clinton on October 17th "in recognition of his leadership in building and consolidating peace and reconciliation on the island of Ireland".

A spokeswoman for the university said it understands that the former president will spend a couple of days in Ireland.

Mr Clinton will be honoured alongside Stanislaus Kennedy, a social innovator and founder of Focus Ireland. Martin Naughton will also be recognised for his success in founding and growing Glen Dimplex, one of the world’s largest private manufacturing companies.

The ceremony will take place in The Helix on DCU’s Glasnevin campus on Tuesday, October 17th at 11am.
