Berkeley tragedy: Student injured in balcony fall leaves hospital

One of the Irish students injured when a balcony collapsed in Berkeley, California last week has been released from hospital.

Sean Fahey (21) from Rathmines in Dublin is due to travel home to Ireland.

Mr Fahey was treated at the Eden Medical Centre in Castro Valley, California, following last week's tragedy.

Two other students, Clodagh Cogley and Niall Murray, are still being treated at the medical centre.

The former St Mary’s College student posted on social media after the incident, thanking everyone “for their support in such a dark time”.

Two of the deceased, Eoghan Culligan and Niccolai Schuster, also attended St Mary’s College.

The Fahey family reported they were delighted Mr Fahey would be able to travel home but requested privacy during the young student’s recovery period.
