An appeal for information on the death of Mark Burke (37), from Dublin, has been made by the Crimestoppers charity.

Burke, a father of six, was last seen on George’s Street in Dún Laoghaire on Monday 28th July, 2014, at about 2.30om.

His remains were found in Thornton’s Recycling Plant in Ballyfermot on the night of Thursday 31st July, 2014. The death was treated as “suspicious”.

Gardaí are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen Burke between Monday 28th July and the discovery of his remains on Thursday 31st, in particular people from the Dundrum and Dún Laoghaire areas.

The man was well known around Dún Laoghaire as well as the environs around the Holy Cross Church in Dundrum.

Detective Inspector Colm O’Malley said he believed people have information which could help the Garda investigation.

“We are anxious to speak to anyone who has information in relation to Mark’s death and the subsequent discovery of his remains. We believe that there are persons out there that have information that would be beneficial to the case,” he said.

“Even the smallest piece of information, which may seem insignificant, might help with the investigation.”
