Almost 19,000 dolls carrying what is described as a “chemical risk” to children are being recalled by high street retailer Dealz.
The recall was announced by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) on Tuesday.
The CCPC said the recall involved the Bella City Chic doll, which it said contains “unacceptable levels of a chemical that is unsafe for young children”.
There have reportedly been 18,986 affected products sold to people in Ireland. The Dealz product code for the Bella City Chic Doll is 452987 and the batch number is 2007.
The bar code is 5054110024185 and the batch number can be found on the reverse of the packaging.
The CCPC said Dealz is asking any consumers who purchased the dolls to return the product in store for a full refund.
The customer care line is 189 093 0843 (ROI). Monday – Saturday, 9am to 5pm GMT, Closed Sunday and Bank Holidays.
Dealz is a spin out from the British retailer Poundland. The chain offers a range of products usually priced at €1.50 with special promotions at key price points such as €1 and two for €1.50.
The first two stores were opened in Blanchardstown and Portlaoise in September 2011. There are now more than 60 stores across Ireland.
