Hewlett Packard (HP) has today announced it is to create 60 new jobs at its Global Solutions Centre in Belfield, Dublin.
The global technology firm, which employs over 4,000 people in Ireland at facilities in Dublin, Leixlip, Galway and Belfast, said it is consolidating its European operations at its facility in Belfield, in order to provide high level technical support to its customer base across Northern Europe and the Benelux countries.
Recruitment for the new positions which include on-site engineers, partners and distributors, begins immediately.
In 2009 the company created 550 new jobs in Ireland via the creation of a Global Services Desk in Leixlip and an expansion at its Galway operation.
HP Ireland's managing director Martin Murphy said today's jobs announcement underlined the company's commitment to the Irish market.
He said that HP was encouraged by the fact that Ireland is making positive inroads in terms of wage and salary competitiveness. However, he added that there was still significant scope for improvement to national competitiveness which would protect multinational industry located here.
