If you do one thing this week . . . get the measure of oil
HAVE YOU ever noticed how some celebrity chefs can be a bit heavy-handed with the measures?
“It needs a tiny bit more oil,” they might proclaim, then they smile to camera while they up-end the bottle and glug its contents merrily into the dish.
Some oils have beneficial properties for health and no doubt the end result of the cooking tastes great but the excess might not do the waistline any favours.
So if you’re keeping an eye on your calories, why not measure out the oil before chucking it in?
You could pour oil into a spoon or a measuring cup so you get some idea of the volume you are dealing with rather than eyeballing it.
Or try using a spray bottle when coating a pan or food.
