- Jigsaw, the free confidential service for young people with mental health problems, has a new hub on Fairgreen Road (across from coach station), Galway city. - A new web-based accommodation service, rotationlocation.ie has been set up to help landlords advertise and junior doctors find short-term accommodation close to hospitals in towns and cities across Ireland. It has been set up by businessman Niall McDermott and his brother, Dr Cian McDermott, who is a specialist registrar in emergency medicine at the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Dublin.

- Thirty engineering, medical and biomedical engineering students from universities across Europe are designing the next-generation medical devices at a European Summer School in Trinity College Dublin this week. This is the third year that the European Society for Engineering and Medicine event has been held in TCD.
