Officials from the Western Health Board and the Department of Health are to meet in Dublin tomorrow to discuss a controversy over job cuts in the service.
The board has come into conflict with the Department over proposed cuts to the service.
The WHB claimed last week that cuts of €1.15 million imposed by the Government would result in at least 200 job losses whereas the Minister for Health says the cuts would result in no more than 85 job losses.
The board was called on by the Minister for Health, Mr Martin, to justify how it came to its figure of 200 job cuts and unions have disputed how the number of job losses required to meet the €1.15 million cuts.
Mr Martin has been derided by opposition parties for claiming the cuts would not mean a reduction of services to the public.
The Department revealed today the Minister would attend tomorrow's meeting.
Mr Martin is also due to meet managers from the North Eastern Health Board to ascertain why it told hospitals to cancel non-essential surgery, to end the use of agency nurses and to stop buying equipment.
