RTÉ TELEVISION presenter Gráinne Seoige and her husband Stephen Cullinane have announced that they have separated after eight years of marriage and 11 years together.

The announcement came in a brief statement yesterday from Seoige’s agent Noel Kelly.

It stated that they remained “good friends” and that their main concern was for their “son and stepson” Conall. The transition-year student is Seoige’s son by another relationship and Cullinane’s stepson.

The couple have asked media to respect their privacy and say they will be making no further comment.

Seoige and Cullinane met while they were working together at TV3, where he was head of sport and a presenter.

They became a couple in 1999 and married in September 2002.

Cullinane left TV3 in 2007 to set up Touchline Media Ireland, an independent television production company that provides programming for corporate clients as well as for established broadcasters.

Seoige has currently finished filming the All-Ireland Talent Show, which she presented, and had a recent stint as a stand-in presenter on GMTV.

This has led to speculation that she might be planning a more permanent move to Britain.
