Seven men arrested following Garda raids targeting a drugs gang in Dublin last week have been released from custody.
The men were released on Saturday, and files have been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), gardaí confirmed this afternoon.
Six of the men were held at Store Street station in Dublin, and the seventh was detained in Wexford.
The Garda operation spanned five counties and was one of the biggest operations against organised crime in recent years. A total of 13 men were arrested following the early morning operation.
Some 300 gardaí met at Garda Headquarters, Phoenix Park, Dublin, and in Wexford and Cork stations from 4am last Monday before raiding over 30 locations.
The Criminal Assets Bureau, Emergency Response Unit, Organised Crime Unit, Air Support Unit, Dog Unit and Public Order unit - supported by local gardaí in Cork, Wexford, Kildare and Cavan - were involved in the operation, which was co-ordinated from Store Street Garda station.
The target of the operation was a drug-trafficking gang based around Sheriff Street in Dublin’s north inner city. The gang has criminal contacts across the country.
The gang has been involved in a feud in recent years with another faction also based in Sheriff Street. The feud has cost five lives, two of them this year.
Those originally arrested ranged in age from 17 to 61. A man in his 20s and a 17-year-old youth have already been before the courts and granted bail.
