A family who were invited to remain on the grounds of the Bishop of Killaloe, Dr Willie Walsh, in Ennis last Christmas yesterday escaped a second court attempt by Ennis UDC to have them evicted from an Ennis public car park.

Last Christmas, Dr Walsh allowed the nine-member Molloy family to park their caravan on his grounds at his Ennis residence after they were evicted twice from sites in Ennis following court orders obtained by the council.

The Molloys - whose seven children range from 11 years of age to 12 months - remained on the bishop's grounds until a fire destroyed their caravan in mid-July. The court was told last month that Dr Walsh could no longer allow the family to remain on his grounds due to insurance reasons.

Yesterday was the council's second attempt at Ennis District Court to have them removed from the public car park. The council alleges the family have parked their vehicle illegally.

However, Judge Albert O'Dea further adjourned the case until December 3rd, stating that unless Ennis Urban Council found the family a place to live, he would not make an order to move the family on.
