Irish manufacturing prices, dropped 1.3 per cent in August. But prices are up 0.7 per cent on the year to date according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) this morning.
August’s reverse brought the overall Manufacturing Output Price Index to 131.1. The index for domestic sales decreased by 0.6 per cent while the index for export sales fell 2 per cent in August.
According to the CSO data, driving the monthly change were a 3.0 per cent decrease in slaughtering, preparing and preserving of meat and a 2.3 per cent drop in electrical engineering wholesale costs.
The main contributors to the annual increase were a 5.1 per cent increase in dairy products and a 1.9 per cent rise in tobacco prices.
The cost of building and construction materials increased by 0.3 per cent in November adding to a figure of 4.9 per cent for the year to date.
