An examination of the remains of a former resident of a reform school has found evidence of skull damage. The remains of Willie Delaney, who died in 1970 aged 13, were exhumed in Kilkenny yesterday by gardai investigating allegations of sexual and physical abuse at the school in Letterfrack, Co Galway.
The boy died during a summer visit home from the school. He complained of headaches before collapsing and never regained consciousness. Residents of the school at the time have since told gardai that he had been severely beaten shortly before leaving Letterfrack.
