Householders have been encouraged to take part in a home safety campaign designed to raise public awareness of the potential dangers of electricity in the home.

The campaign, launched today by the ESB, urges customers to take part in an online questionnaire which will assess how safe their home is.

A television advertisement and a customer newsletter will also be used to the highlight the campaign which will last throughout the year.

Minister for the Environment Dick Roche said the campaign is in keeping with the general thrust of national strategies towards a safer and healthier society.
