Weather warning and bus strike set to put a dampener on Saturday

Heavy rain and strong, gusty winds to spread from the west across the country from Friday

Saturday is not shaping up to be the best day for going out and about this weekend with a weather warning and a bus strike in place for the day.

Heavy rain is expected to fall across the country on Saturday morning but Met Éireann has issued a rain alert for four counties for 12 hours.

On Friday rain will spread from the west across the rest of the country and winds will be become strong and gusty later in the day.

The yellow warning, which means those affected should take preventative action, is in place for counties Cork, Galway, Kerry and Mayo from midnight on Friday to midday on Saturday.

Forecasters predict more than 25mm will fall in the 12 hour period and up to 40mm in mountainous areas.

Counties outside the warning areas are expected to have dry conditions for a short while after the wet morning on Saturday.

However, in the afternoon it will become very windy with outbreaks of rain and temperatures will be between 17 to 19 degrees.

Sunday is set to be a bright, breezy and cooler days with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers.
