Residents of Limerick have been advised to stay indoors as near hurricane force winds have damaged a number of buildings in the city.
Part of a building on Sarsfield St has collapsed, resulting in the closure of the street and the roof of the Limerick Rowing Club boat house has been ripped off.
There are also reports that the roof of a Supervalu outlet in Castletroy has been damaged. Students at the University of Limerick have been advised to remain within the college buildings due to the severity of the winds.
There are reports that the wind has damaged a number of windows in some of the college buildings.

A number of towns including Bruff and Croom have been closed off to traffic by gardaí due to concerns over falling trees and debris.
