The talk is by the wildlife consultant Dusty Gedge, a founder of livingroofs.org, president of the European Federation of Green Roof Associations and presenter of Bill Bailey’s Channel 4 programme

Buzz of new projects at Eco-Unesco
Eco-Unesco, the youth environmental-education organisation, is buzzing with new projects. First up is the Eco Award, a sustainability prize that will reward youth and community organisations that help build a sustainable future, both locally and globally. Next is a weekend eco-programme for children and adults. Held on the second Saturday of each month, the Green Kids and Green Family Fun workshops run for 50 minutes each; the next ones are on November 13th. And, finally, there’s an eco-explorers Halloween camp at Eco-Unesco’s base at the Greenhouse, on St Andrew Street, Dublin 2, from October 27th to 29th, 10am-3pm. 01-6625491, ecounesco.ie.
Life aquatic at Connemara Sea Week
Connemara Sea Week is one of those incredible community events that mix art with environmental awareness. The threats facing the marine ecosystem is the theme of this year’s conference, on Saturday from 10am at Letterfrack National School. Speakers include Paul Connolly and John Joyce of the Marine Institute, the artist Dorothy Cross, and Dr Simon Berrow of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group. 095-43443, ceecc.org.
