The redwings have arrived in Achill. They were all over the abundant crop of holly berries on October 28th.

Recently about 30 pigeons were feeding outside. They were pinker than wood pigeons, with no white collar, but did have the white wing stripe and black tail stripe.

They were juvenile wood pigeons.

I found two small lizards in the utility room. They were about 4cm long, with an orange stripe down the back. They were far short of the 12cm given for an adult lizard.

They were baby viviparous lizards, born probably in August.

In July I found a nest with four eggs inside the Betony stone circle at Raphoe Tops, in Donegal. I saw a small dark bird with white in its plumage return to the nest.
