Those with responsibility for their school library may be interested in an upcoming course run by the School Library Organisation. The course aims to provide an understanding of the role of books and other resources at all stages of post-primary education. Strategies and skills for effective library organisation and administration and the promotion of the library throughout the school will be core considerations. There will also be an emphasis on reading for leisure and in relation to the school curriculum.

The course will include specialist guest speakers and will draw on the extensive resources of the college library. The course will run from June 25th to June 29th at the Church of Ireland College of Education, Rathmines, Dublin. It will cost £160, which includes course materials, morning coffee/tea and lunch. Accommodation is available in the college for those who need it. Places are limited so early booking is advisable. The person to contact is Valerie Coghlan at (01) 4061507 or fax (01) 4971932 or email vcoghlan@cice.ie
