Auction site eBay unveiled its Irish site today with a bungee jump to raise money for charity.

Former rose of Tralee Tamara Gervasoni, DJ Dusty Rhodes, ex-Big Brother contestant Ray Shah and former D-Side band member Dane Guiden jumped from Europe’s highest bungee crane - 250 feet - to raise funds for DEBRA Ireland.

The charity supports people with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), which is a genetic skin disorder that causes skin to tear and blister at the slightest touch.

Visitors to eBay.iewere offered the chance to buy a pin online to vote for who they wanted to complete the bungee jump.

The pins, costing €2 each, were coloured differently for each potential jumper, with the proceeds going to the charity.

On the eBay site today, Dane Guiden led the poll with 31 per cent of the vote, followed by Tamara Gervasoni at 30 per cent. Ray Shah garnered 24 per cent of the vote, while only 15 per cent of visitors wanted to see Dusty Rhodes take the 250-foot plunge.

However, earlier today all four candidates completed the jump from the crane, which was located over the River Liffey.

The launch of the new Irish eBay marketplace allows buyers and sellers based in Ireland to trade online in euro and also provides access to eBay’s global marketplace. More than 200,000 registered eBay members are based in Ireland.

Last year, the global auction site established European customer support and PayPal headquarters in Ireland.
