THE RECENT topsy-turvy weather looks set to continue with Met Éireann predicting more unsettled conditions over the weekend.

While today and tomorrow are expected to be dry and cloudy with sunny spells, Monday will see cooler, windier weather sweep across the country, bringing widespread rain.

The forecaster said it would be mainly dry and overcast today, with some sunshine in southern parts and patches of light rain or drizzle in northern counties.

Highest temperatures will be between 10 to 13 degrees which is relatively normal for this time of year.

Tomorrow will be dry for most of the day and there will be sunny spells in eastern areas during the morning.

Tomorrow night and Monday will be distinctly cooler and windier. There will be traditional April showers in the morning and persistent rain in the afternoon.

Some heavy falls of rain are expected overnight especially in parts of the west where there could be 20 to 25mm in places.

Top temperatures will range between 8 to 10 degrees. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop as low as 4 degrees.

Met Éireann said temperatures would be slightly below normal from Monday with some grass frost at night.

The outlook for next week is for more cool and breezy conditions, Met Éireann said.

The predicted unsettled weather comes on the back of last month’s record high temperatures which were followed by the wintry weather that saw snow in some northern parts earlier this week.
