Firing mechanisms and remote signalling equipment were discovered in an empty oil container in the vehicle after Nuala Gormley was stopped by police in Mid Ulster on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old, from The Croft in Dromore, Co Tyrone, admitted her support for republicanism and had republican memorabilia in her home, police said.

A detective constable told Dungannon Magistrates’ Court: “Provisional examination by Forensic Science Northern Ireland, indications suggest that the relevant items seized are the component parts of an improvised explosive device.”
