Gardaí are seeking witnesses to an incident in which a boy (6) was seriously injured in Blackrock, Dublin.

The boy was struck by a car on Cross Avenue at 1.40pm yesterday.

He was taken from the scene by ambulance to Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin but was later removed to Temple Street Children's Hospital where he continues to receive treatment.

The driver of the car was uninjured in the incident.

Gardai at Blackrock station are investigating the matter and have asked anyone who witnessed it, in particular to motorists who were travelling on Cross Avenue between 1.30pm and 1.40pm yesterday, to contact them on (01) 6665200 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
