Two men arrested in Dublin following €800,000 drugs seizure

Gardaí have arrested two men following the seizure of €800,000 worth of drugs in Dublin.

Gardaí carried out searches on Monday as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in west Dublin and Co Meath.

During the operation they stopped and searched two cars on the M50 and discovered cannabis worth €80,000 along with €5,000 in cash.

Gardaí later carried out follow-up searches at an apartment complex on the Navan Road, where a further €720,000 worth of drugs were discovered.

During the search they discovered MDMA along with cannabis resin and herb.

The two arrested men, aged 47 and 58, are currently detained at Finglas Garda station under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. They can be detained for up to seven days.

The operation was carried out by the Special Crime Task Force, Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and a number of units based in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

Gardaí said the investigation was ongoing.
