Two men have been remanded on bail after they were charged in connection with a €126,000 drugs seizure on the main Cork-Dublin motorway at the weekend.

Christopher Sexton (41) and Paul Mannix (51) were both charged with possession and possession for sale or supply of cannabis resin at Corrin, Fermoy, Co Cork on February 12th.

The charges follow an investigation by members of Cork City Divisional Drugs Squad and the seizure of 21kg of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €126,000.

On Wednesday at Cork District Court, Det Garda Eoin O’Toole gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution in respect of both accused and said that neither man made any reply to the charges.

Insp Gary McPolin said gardaí had no objection to bail with conditions attached for Mr Sexton of Cathedral Road, Cork, and Mr Mannix of Hollyhill Lane, Blarney Road in Cork.

These included that they sign on three times a week at Gurranebraher Garda Station, not associate with each other and surrender their passports to gardaí.

Insp McPolin also sought a bail condition that they continue to reside at their current addresses and that they would notify gardaí of any change of address if they move house.

Judge Olann Kelleher granted the application and remanded both accused on bail to appear again on April 12th for preparation of a file on the matter and the DPP's directions.
