Gardaí have arrested two men in connection with the armed robbery of a service station in Blackrock, Co Dublin yesterday evening.

Two men arrived at the petrol station at about 6.25pm where they threatened staff, a Garda spokesman said. Gardaí believe that one of the men was armed with a gun while the other man was armed with a hammer.

The raiders demanded money from the staff and left with an undisclosed sum of cash, gardaí said. The pair made their escape in a car. No one was injured during the incident.

Shortly after the raid, gardaí arrested two men on the Lower Kilmacud Road on Dublin’s southside and recovered cash. The pair was taken to Blackrock Garda station for questioning. They can be held for up to 72 hours under section 30 of Offences Against the State Act 1939.
