Two men have been arrested following the seizure on Wednesday of €480,000 worth of cannabis plants.
The drugs seizure was part of a planned Garda search of four locations in the Newcastle West and Abbeyfeale areas of Co Limerick.
Gardaí said a quantity of cannabis herb and cannabis plants found in the area were worth an estimated €480,000.
The search was carried out as part of an ongoing operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Newcastle West area of Co Limerick. Gardaí said the operation was conducted with the help of the local community.
The 39-year-old and 36-year-old men have been detained at Newcastle West and Henry Street Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
According to gardaí, planned drugs seizure operations use “advanced analytical and intelligence methods” to dismantle criminal networks, with seizures focused on protecting local communities from the impact of the illegal drugs trade.
