Three men die in separate road incidents in Northern Ireland

Three men have died following separate road incidents in Northern Ireland over the Easter weekend.

A 19-year-old and 26-year-old died in a two vehicle collision on the Cushendall Road in Ballycastle, Co Antrim at around 3.40am on Easter Monday.

The crash, involving a Peugeot 207 and a Volkswagen Bora, has left two women in a critical condition in hospital.

Inspector Mick Wood is appealing for witnesses or anyone who was travelling on the Cushendall Road at the time to contact the Collision Investigation Unit of local police in Ballycastle.

Motorcyclist David Anderson (42) from Coleraine died following a road traffic collision shortly before 4.30pm on the Tornagrough road in Hannahstown, Co Antrim on Sunday afternoon.

Inspector Jim McGrillen of the PSNI has appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or who was travelling on the Tornagrough Road to contact the Collision Investigation Unit of the local police in Lisburn on the non-emergency number 101.

PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Alan Todd said, “With many people enjoying some time off over the coming week, we are appealing to all road users to exercise caution, as our statistics illustrate that, like any other holiday period, there is an increased risk of collisions.”
