A postmortem is expected to be carried out on Monday on the body of a 49-year-old woman who was found dead in unexplained circumstances in south Mayo on Sunday.
The alarm was raised on Sunday afternoon when an ambulance was called to a house at Ballycurrin, near Glencorrib close to the Galway-Mayo border.
The woman was prounced dead at the scene, and the local coroner and State Pathologist’s office were notified.
The house was sealed off for a full forensic and technical examination.
It is understood that the woman was from the area and was visiting the house at the time. Gardaí are not treating the death as suspicious at this stage, pending the outcome of postmortem results.
