Appeal for witnesses after elderly woman in her late 80s pronounced dead at the scene

An elderly pedestrian has died after being hit by a 4x4 vehicle in a car park on Wednesday.

The woman, in her late 80s, was knocked down by a vehicle on the Old Dublin Road at Castletroy, Co Limerick, about 10.15am.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was taken to University Hospital Limerick.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured. The scene is closed off and is being examined by Garda forensic collision investigators.
