A man has died and another has been left seriously injured after a single vehicle collision on the Naas Road in Dublin.

The 35-year-old was fatally injured when the car in which he was travelling collided with a road barrier after the Long Mile Road junction at about 6am on Sunday.

The men were taken to St James’s Hospital for treatment but one of them died as a result of his injuries.

The second man (32) is in a serious condition at the hospital.

The section of the road near the scene was closed to allow for a technical examination by gardaí and was expected to reopen by 11am.
