Gardaí in Dublin have seized cannabis resin worth an estimated €50,000 during what they described as a routine patrol last night.
Members of the traffic unit at Blanchardstown Garda station were on patrol on the Navan Road, Dublin 7 when they stopped a 4 x 4 vehicle, a Garda spokesman said.
They searched the vehicle and found almost nine kilos of cannabis resin with an approximate street value of €50,000 (subject to analysis).
A 34-year-old man was arrested and is being held at Finglas Garda station under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

Cannabis herb with a street value of about €500 was found at a house in Pimlico, Dublin 8, during a follow-up search, the spokesman added.
