Gardaí believe more than one person involved in Tralee murder

Gardaí investigating the murder of Dimitri Hrynkevich (24) in Tralee, Co Kerry, believe more than one person may have been involved in beating him unconscious.

Hrynkevich was found unconscious by the emergency services in the front lawn of the house he was living in at Killeen Woods, Tralee, at about 10.30pm on Wednesday night.

He was taken to Kerry General Hospital and placed on life support. He died on Friday night.

A murder inquiry was declared on Saturday after the post mortem examination by State Pathologist Marie Cassidy.

Hrynkevich, originally from Russia, was over 7ft tall and had a rare medical condition associated with exceptional height.

Two men were arrested on Wednesday shortly after emergency services arrived at Killeen Woods, where it’s believed a party had been taking place.

They were later released without charge, and files are being prepared for the DPP. Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Tralee Garda station at 066 710 2300.
