Gardaí have appealed for information regarding a serious assault on a woman in the Temple Bar area of Dublin last weekend.

They received reports of a woman who was attacked by a man at Bedford Lane, close to Aston Quay on Saturday morning at about 3.40am.

It is believed she was knocked to the ground after which members of the public came to her assistance. The woman left the scene before gardaí arrived.

Interviewed

Gardaí said there were several witnesses and a number of people have been interviewed in connection with their investigation.
