A man in custody at Ballymun Garda Station was pronounced dead in the Mater hospital yesterday morning after being transferred there by ambulance.
The man, in his mid-20s, was arrested and brought to Ballymun Garda Station. A doctor was called when he appeared unwell.
The man was released from custody, but while still at the garda station he became more unwell.
He was transferred by ambulance to the Mater Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 4.30am.

The incident was referred to the Garda Ombudsman for independent investigation.
