Gardaí have arrested three men and a woman and seized a quantity of drugs in an operation in the South Circular Road/Rialto area of Dublin.

Two flats were searched by gardaí from Kevin Street drug unit and gardaí at Kilmainham as part of a planned operation yesterday, a Garda spokeswoman said.

“During the course of the searches they discovered a 9mm handgun along with ammunition and a sawn off shotgun and ammunition.”

A quantity of cannabis and heroin was also seized.

The drugs, subject to analysis may have a street value of €15,000, the spokeswoman added.

The three men, aged in the mid 30s, and a woman aged 29, were arrested at the scenes and are all currently detained.

Two of the men are detained under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Kevin Street Garda station.

The third man and the woman are detained under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939/98 and they are being held at Kilmainham and Irishtown Garda stations.
