Five youths arrested following M4 chase

Gardaí have arrested five youths following a car chase along the M4.

The pursuit occurred this morning when gardaí investigating criminal activity in the Dublin region spotted a silver Ford Mondeo close to Newcastle, Co Dublin.

When attempts were made to stop the vehicle it drove off at high speed towards Lucan.

According to gardai the car drove westbound on the M4 and the assistance of the Garda Air Support Unit was requested to relay its location to units on the ground.

A ‘stinger’ device was deployed and the vehicle was stopped on the M4 close to Kilcock after which the five occupants - two juveniles and three teenage males - were arrested.

They were taken to Leixlip Garda station where three of these youths were later charged and released on bail to appear at Kilcock District Court on May 21st. The two juveniles will be cautioned under the Juvenile Deferral System.
