The nurse accused of murdering her mother told gardaí that they “didn’t get along very well” and the deceased woman suggested her husband “had a girlfriend”, a jury heard today.

The jury has been shown videos of interviews that gardaí conducted with a nurse who killed her mother on Christmas Eve four years ago.

Wrapped in a blue blanket, Greta Dudko spent Christmas Night and St Stephens's Day 2010 answering questions about the attack in their Dublin home.

The 36-year-old of Station Court Hall, Clonsilla has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 55-year-old Anna Butautiene. However, the Lithuanian woman has pleaded not guilty to her murder at that address on Christmas Eve 2010.

Her Central Criminal Court jury spent this morning watching portions of the interviews that detectives conducted with her following her arrest. Her husband had called gardaí to the home into which she had moved with her mother and toddler just weeks earlier.

“We didn’t get along very well,” she said of her relationship with her mother, who had moved in with her and her husband in 2007 to help care for their baby.

“She was always trying to separate me from the husband. She was saying he was not good for me, not the right person for me,” she added. “Even though it wasn’t true… saying he comes back from work so late, what’s wrong? Maybe he has a girlfriend.”

She said her husband was sick of that too.

However, her husband admitted in court that he had extra-marital affairs and that his mother in law had caught him on a dating website. The trial heard that his wife had left him just weeks before the killing, bringing their son and her mother with her.

The trial continues.
