Pair face eight charges following discovery of guns and ammunition in Ratoath

Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with the seizure of guns and ammunition in Co Meath last Thursday.

Joseph Jones (29), a HSE childcare worker from Rath Lodge, Ashbourne, Co Meath, and Alan Donoghue (32) from St Oliver's Park, Ratoath, Co Meath, appeared at Trim District Court on Saturday.

Eight charges

The men face eight charges following the seizure of four guns and about 760 rounds of ammunition in Ratoath.

Judge Gráinne Malone remanded Jones in custody to Cloverhill District Court on Thursday with consent to bail in his own bond of €10,000 and two independent sureties of €25,000 each.

Mr Donoghue was also remanded to appear at Cloverhill District Court on Thursday.

A third man arrested during the same operation was freed without charge and a file is to be sent to the DPP.
