‘Improvised’ gun charge for Dublin man

A Dublin man charged with possessing an “improvised” gun has been further remanded on bail pending the preparation of a book of evidence.

Jason Maher (42), from Fairlawn Park in Finglas, was arrested on January 6th after gardaí responded to a crash on the M50.

Mr Maher, who is unemployed, replied “nothing” when asked if he had any reply to charges for possessing an “improvised” firearm and ammunition, the court heard.

A State solicitor told Judge Michael Walsh that the case will be sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court .

An additional charge for drink-driving on January 6th has also been brought against him. Garda Paul Guy said Mr Maher had “no reply” when the new charge was put to him.

There was no objection to Mr Maher remaining on bail.
