Gardaí have issued an appeal for information following the suspicious death of a man in Co Donegal last weekend.

Kieran Callaghan, a 50-year-old father of four, was found dead at his home in Roshin, Churchill at 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

At first it was thought he died of natural causes but the scene was preserved for an investigation.

A susbsequent examination on the body by State Pathologist Marie Cassidy forced Gardaí to upgrade the death to "suspicious".

Inspector Michael Harrison told reporters today they are very anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen Mr Callaghan after he was last spotted in Churchill at about 6pm on Friday.

Insp Harrison said he could not answer specific questions on the death or details of the postmortem for operational reasons.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have met, seen or spoken to Kieran Callaghan between the 4th and the 8th of July to make contact with us.

“We are also appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious around his home at Rosheen in Churchill to contact us at Milford Garda station,” he said.

Mr Callaghan was a part-time farmer who also worked at Glenveagh National Park.

He was 5’10”, of thin build and had grey hair.

It is understood Mr Callaghan may have suffered a head injury before he was found dead at his home.
