Winning EuroMillions ticket worth €66m sold in Carlow

‘Life-changing’ prize won on €15 quick-pick by ‘completely dumbstruck’ group of friends

A shop in Carlow sold the €66 million winning EuroMillions ticket to a group of friends, it has been confirmed.

The National Lottery said the Easons store in Fairgreen shopping centre in Carlow town sold the €15 quick-pick winning ticket for the January 29th draw.

A syndicate of friends, who wish to remain anonymous, picked up their the jackpot prize at the lottery headquarters office in Dublin on Thursday.

A spokesman on behalf of the friends said the group were in shock at their good luck.

“This is by any standards, enormous good fortune. We are completely dumbstruck to have won this fantastic prize. The ads are true; it is riches beyond your wildest dreams, even when it’s shared by a group like this.

“It’s a life changing amount of money for each of us, and we realise how lucky we are to share in a EuroMillions jackpot of this size,” he said.

The other winning ticket that split the €132 million jackpot was claimed in France.
