GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the death of a teenager in a hit-and-run in Dublin have gathered a large amount of CCTV footage in the hope of identifying the driver.

Tributes were paid yesterday to Conor Hickey (14), from St Attracta Road, Cabra, who died on Saturday after being hit by a car at about 5.40pm on Friday. Supt Seán Ward of Mountjoy Garda station yesterday said it was a “devastating blow” for the community and the Hickey family.

Gardaí still do not know exactly what happened at the junction of St Eithne Road and Fassaugh Road, but say a silver car involved went in the direction of Phibsboro.

A second-year pupil at Cabra Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire, the school website featured a photo of him in uniform with the words “Ar dheis Dé go raibh d’anam uasal, a Chonchúir”, which translates as “May your noble soul be at the right hand of God, Conor”.
