Gardaí were last night investigating the discovery of a body in a burned out car in Co Louth. The incident came to light after a passer-by alerted emergency services when he saw the vehicle in flames at Gyles Quay, near Carlingford, just after 7pm.
The scene of the incident is about one mile from the town of Lordship where Det Garda Adrian Donohoe was shot dead last month, but there was no suggestion last night the two were connected.
Gardaí cordoned off the scene for a full technical examination to be carried out today which may shed some light on the circumstances. Anybody with any information can contact gardaí at Carlingford on 042-4937.
