An 84-year-old man has died in hospital two days after being hit by a car in Co Cork.

An 84-year-old man has died in hospital two days after being hit by a car in Co Cork.

Michael Ryan, of Barretts Place, Macroom, Co Cork, was struck by a car in the town at lunchtime on Monday. He was taken to Cork University Hospital and died yesterday.

Elsewhere, gardaí in Dublin are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road collision in the city centre between a cyclist and a lorry last Thursday morning.

Barbara Gill (49), from Damenstown, Co Kilkenny, suffered serious injuries in the crash at the junction of Wolfe Tone Quay and Temple Street West and died later in St James's Hospital.
