Asus VivoStick PC

Should your demands for pocket computing extend beyond a smartphone when travelling, the VivoStick is a Windows 10 PC that's the size of fat marker. With an Intel Atom processor, the VivoStick can turn any TV screen, projector or monitor with an HDMI slot into a full "desktop" PC. You can even use your smartphone as its keyboard and mouse. Plenty of spec, too, including wifi, Bluetooth and USB ports. There's only 2GB internal memory, but 100GB in the cloud courtesy of Asus. So your hotel room TV can tap the internet on a big screen for movies, work or social media time-killing.

The Hi-Vis Torch jacket from Showers Pass boasts a three-pronged attack on cyclist invisibility. First is its silvery, super-reflective material on the body which goes incandescent at night under light. On top of that are four removable LED beacons on the cuffs and the back. And then there are Neon Green strips down both sides to boost daytime visibility. It's stretchy, seam-taped, waterproof and breathable with a venting system to help cool you too. Not the cheapest biking jacket you'll find, but it may be one of the brightest.

Nokia 3310

It says something about the jaded nature of new higher-tech product launches for smart this and wearable that, that the “relaunch” of a so-called dumbphone can make all the headlines. The 3310 is a some sort of classic, and this new version presses all the buttons, so to speak. As someone who has a couple of equally dumb phones for off-grid travelling, it’s those 22 hours of talk time and a month of standby charge that are so attractive, as well as a dual SIM option. Oh, and Snake’s back, along with that ringtone.
