Paralenz Dive Camera

Facilitated by a crowdfunding drive last year, Paralenz claims to be the first dive camera designed by divers for divers. It's certainly got well-thought through features that reflect the particular requirements of filming underwater. For instance, the Paralenz detects the depth to adjust the white balance and so correct the colours. It logs dive data too, and matches this up to your footage. There's one hand, one button shooting, with a magnetic/vibrating settings switch to improve responsiveness through neoprene gloves. Wifi and Bluetooth means you can share and review material, and there's even a sort of floating selfie accessory (separate) which lets you capture yourself in full Jacques Cousteau mode.

Pelican Elite Cooler

Pelican is probably best known for its near indestructible protective cases, a favourite of many a camera professional. Here its expertise is turned to a much more important use: an ultra-rugged cooler box to keep wine and beer chilled and safe. It comes in a selection of sizes, from 19 litres (20 US quarts) and up. That’s about 15 cans or three 75cl bottles – which it will keep ice-cold, if necessary, for up to 10 days. Or two festivals. The cooler is lockable, with hefty latches, a measuring board, self-draining cup holders and a stainless steel bottle opener. And like most Pelican kit, it’s built to last – literally – as it comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Snow Peak Mini Hozuki Lantern

Small and flexible, Snow Peak’s Mini Hozuki is a LED camping light in a tactile silicone body. It’s got a magnetic pseudopod that fastens over to hook it anywhere or attach directly to accommodating metal. Simple press controls toggle through a couple of settings and the 60 lumens LED gives out a welcoming, soft glow. Expect about 40 hours from 3 AAA batteries.
