Free nights snapped up

When McWilliam Park Hotel, in Co Mayo, decides to celebrate its birthday, it doesn't do it by halves. On Tuesday it advertised that on November 14th and 15th all its bedrooms would be free, to mark its second year in business. Within hours all 103 rooms at the hotel were booked out. Disappointed potential guests are being offered a €20pp rate on November 16th.

Olympic star

More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the Northern Ireland International Horse Show, in Belfast, from October 23rd to 26th. Competitors will include US Olympic gold medallist Laura Kraut and Jean-François Pignon. www.nihorseshow.com.

CityJet prize

CityJet has earned the prestigious European Regions Airline Association Airline of the Year 2008- 2009 Silver Award. Based in Swords, Co Dublin, the Air France subsidiary flies out of London City Airport to Dublin, Belfast, Paris, Zurich, Geneva, Madrid and Nice, offering quick check-ins to minimise the time it takes to travel from desk to aircraft. CityJet won the Bronze award last year.
